Three great comic book covers a day until we run out of covers or I run out of gas. Please chime in if I miss a great one, and if I concur (!), I’ll recap.
Brooks’s big wrap-around event kick-off cover for Avengers #675 is classic Brooks style:
Another poster – and how do they breathe in space anyway? – but beautiful work.
I think I like Larraz’s variant better;
I guess if you don’t like the more stylistic approach this isn’t for you, but I think anyone can appreciate the composition and colors.
Brooks turns in another beauty with Avengers #689:
Maybe not quite enough of the Goldblum for me.
I like the first 675 better then the second despite colors and composition. I suppose its that stylization of the faces that turn me off. The 689 I like entirely due to the almost 3-D effect if the playing cards coming at the viewer!

Composition and colors are good, but I prefer the Brooks. The white space gives the characters room, its easier to focus on each. I like that Alex Ross style realism, too, not so much your Larraz piece. But his central girl in red really stands out well, while I don’t find the other characters very interesting.
I am with Gerald, those cards are beautifully done. Mighty strange villain but he doesn’t really captivate me.

I get you on the Larraz. You guys are classicists. No problem with that! And yes, it was the playing cards that grabbed me on that last cover.
